Program Description

Event Details

Join us for a special event in recognition of Low Vision Awareness Month. This interactive program will explore the experiences of individuals with low vision or no vision and highlight the resources, tools, and services the library provides to support accessible reading, learning, and daily living.

Participants will get hands-on exposure to materials such as Braille books, large print items, and low vision tools (including magnifiers and high-contrast aids). We'll also share information about assistive technologies, accessible formats available through library collections and partner organizations, and everyday strategies that promote independence and inclusion for those with vision loss.

This is a drop-in event—attend anytime between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. The program will end promptly at 4:00 PM.

Whether you're living with vision impairment, supporting someone who is, or simply interested in learning more, this program offers an inclusive, respectful space for exploration and conversation.

We recognize that families and caregiving take many forms. All individuals, parents, caregivers, and supportive adults are welcome to attend.

Accessibility Note: This program will take place in the Whole Meeting Room, located at the front of the library. The room entrance is approximately 68 feet from the front door. The nearest restroom is located 18 feet from the room entrance, in the adjacent hallway. Lights will be at full brightness, and the room may become loud at times. Participants are welcome to enter, exit, or take breaks at any time based on their needs and comfort.
