Ceramist, sculptor, photographer, researcher, and educator Dr. Martie Geiger-Ho, whose artwork has been exhibited in the United States, Canada, Germany, Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Brunei, Thailand, and the Philippines, is the artist-in-residence at Villa Barr Art Park in Novi during July 2025. Dr. Geiger-Ho received several residencies, including a Taiwan Ceramics Residency at New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan, a Shigaraki Ceramic Studio Artist Residency in Japan, an Ottawa School of Art Residency in Canada, a Women’s Studio Workshop Residency in the U.S., a Visiting Research Fellowship in Taiwan, and a University Fellowship in Hong Kong. Her book, The Worship of Kiln Gods: From the Temples of China to the Studios of Western Potters, was published in July 2012. While in residence, Dr. Geiger-Ho will continue work on her “Terraformation Series,” which pays homage to the natural earth.
